Twice Freed

Directed by Meg Koch

Based on the 1970 book by Patricia St. John, this story is set in the Roman Empire in the time of the early church. It follows several families – a slave family, a Jewish Christian family, and two wealthy Phyrgian families – and covers a wide swath of the empire, from Jerusalem, across Asia Minor (modern Turkiye), into Greece and all the way to Rome! Through these families’ stories we experience the realities of slavery, racial prejudice, and power in the Roman Empire and ultimately the revolutionary effect that the message of Jesus had on individuals and the entire culture.
